Barium Studies
It is a noninvasive & painless procedure.
Depending upon the prescribed test barium is either asked to be swallowed by the patient or barium is given by enema & multiple X-Rays are taken in different positions at different intervals.

Preparation-
Enquire with your physician or our doctors / staff for instructions regarding bowel preparation.

Avoid carrying excess cash, wearing ornaments.
It is always advisable to be accompanied by a relative.

Pregnancy is a contraindication for X-Rays. Please inform the staff if you are a female patient and even if you are planning to get pregnant.

X-Ray Intravenous Pyelography 
(X-Ray IVU) / X-Ray Intravenous Pyelography (X-Ray IVP).
It is a specialized type of X-Ray study that uses an injection of a contrast material to evaluate the kidneys, ureters, and bladder.
Preparation-
Patient should be in overnight fasting state as the test is done in the morning time.
You may be advised bowel preparation meaning you may be advised to take certain medications the night before the test, to clear your bowels so that stools and gases do not cause obstruction to the desired images. Enquire with your physician / our doctors / staff regarding the bowel preparation.
The test is performed only if Kidney Function Test (Urea / Creatinine) levels in blood are within normal range.
You may be required to change clothes. So wear loose and easily changeable clothes.
It is advised to come along with a responsible person / relative for the test.

Hysterosalpingography (HSG)
HSG is a test done case of primary or secondary infertility in women.
 
X-Ray is used in HSG test along with the dye to look at fallopian tube & uterus.

HSG test is generally performed generally between 8th to 12th day of menstrual cycle / menses (monthly period) of the ladies.

Preparation-

You will be given a gown to change. So wear loose and easily changeable clothes.

Patient may be given certain injections i.v / i.m before the procedure.
It is always better to be accompanied by a responsible adult relative / person.

Inform the technologist / front desk if you any history of allergies, diabetes, high BP, heart disease, breastfeeding.

Shaving / preparation around the private part is recommended before coming for the procedure.

Retrograde Urethrogram (RGU)
It is also known as ascending urethrography.
RGU is most commonly performed in male patients to diagnose any obstruction / pathology of the urinary tract (urethra) using a dye & X-Rays.

It is relatively painless procedure.

In case of uneventful procedure the patient can immediately go home & resume his normal activities

Preparation-
